In 1918, Mother Lucy opened St. Agatha Academy in Winchester, Kentucky. This school is still in operation today and requires all students to wear a uniform. In my portrait of Mother Lucy, her religious habit fades into the current uniform skirt of St. Agatha Academy (Lands’ End Plaid #55). I reference the colors, pattern, and pleats in my portrait.

This is an image of the stained glass window in the sanctuary of Sacred Heart Chapel at St. Anne Convent in Melbourne, Kentucky. St. Anne Convent was founded by and is the home of the American Province of the Congregation of Divine Providence. Mother Lucy oversaw the construction of the convent and is buried on the property. In the portrait of Mother Lucy I reference the graphic quality and the compositional layout of the window scenes with figures (e.g. use of color, framing of figure, halo, etc.).
